Prior to retiring this year from his longtime position as the Chair of the Mayport Waterfront Partnership, Sam Floyd served the interests of Mayport Village for decades without wavering and we believe he will continue to do so.

His roots in Mayport Village are deep- at least 13 generations worth, his storytelling is legendary, and his knowledge and expertise in commercial fishing continues to be invaluable! But more than this, Sam Floyd is distinguished by his integrity, his dedication to do right by others, and his humble solidarity with his fellowman. We are grateful to have enjoyed such a long and hearty affiliation!

For all Sam’s future pursuits, in the tradition of the blessing of the fleet, we humbly invoke this benediction: God of boundless love, at the beginning of creation your Spirit swept over the waters. You called forth every creature and made the seas team with life. Bless this dear man’s life journey, his vessel, and all who travel alongside him. Protect them from wind and rain and the dangers of the deep.
